EU Financial and Insurance Markets Regulation (EuFIMAR)
JEAN MONNET CHAIR
EUSFIL and EUFIMAR
EUSFiL has been established in the Department of Business Law at the University of Genoa, already hosting of the Jean Monnet Chair on Financial and Insurance Markets Regulation (EUFIMAR) held by Professor Michele Siri, dealing with the regulation of the financial and insurance sector in the European Union.
The JM Chair in EU Financial and Insurance Markets Regulation (EuFIMAR) builds on the assumption that the increasing number of rules regarding EU financial sectors can significantly affect the activity of jurists, such as lawyers and judges, as well as that of consumers, firms and other professionals and financial services users. The Chair aims to boost the knowledge and to understand EU financial and insurance markets through a multi-step approach. To this purpose, the project implements:

a curricular course in EU insurance law, redesigned to focus on the European regulation of the insurance sector (methods: lecture and case studies; language: Italian; target: students of the Social Science School and Erasmus students);
a revamped “e-learning” course in “EU financial and insurance markets regulation”, focused on EU retail investor protection (methods: video-lecture and case studies; language: English; target: students of the Social Science School and Erasmus students);
4 seminars per year on emerging trends on EU financial and insurance poliy given by the international academic staff (target: students enrolled in one of the three courses);
an annual conference on selected issues concerning financial and insurance products governance in the EU (target: students at large, managers, members of governmental and non-governmental organisations and supervisory authorities at national and supranational level);
a web site contains: video lectures; a selection of working papers, cases and material on EU retail investor protection; video & slide streaming of the annual conference;
